New Official* Sunflower Traditional Explanation
Interest Type Interest Type (none) There are five interest types in Sunflower: Agreement, Inventory, Financial, Inactive, and Excess which determines how the asset is managed and what information is required for the asset. Agreement type is used for leases. Financial Assets appear on the Bureau's Financial Statement.
Region Manager Terminal Code The NOAA headquarters or regional office responsible for maintaining the asset record in the NOAA Property Management System.
Property Accountability Office Owner Property Accountability Office The Accountability Area encompassing one or more Custodial Areas or Steward Organizations under the jurisdiction of a Property Accountability Officer
Custodial Area Steward Custodial Area The organization or organizations under the jurisdiction of a Property Custodian
Steward Contact Custodian Steward Contact This is the asset's Custodian, the person who actually does the hand-on work with the property, tags the property, conducts inventories, and interfaces with the Property Office on a daily basis.
Property Custodian Asset Center Representative Property Custodian The person who is the primary contact for the Steward organization.
User User (none) The person directly responsible for the property, the person using the property.
Site Site (none) Normally a city, state combination. Satellites are "In Orbit"
Barcode Number Identifier NFC ID The Property Identification Number or PIN, the barcode number on a Department of Commerce barcode label.
Document Number Identifier Document Number A unique string of characters that identifies a particular document whether it is a purchase order, contract, bankcard purchase, etc.
Document Steward Document Steward (none) The field that describes the organization where the document is filed.
Federal Supply Group Asset Type Federal Supply Group Part of a property item's catalog description indicating where it falls in the broad Federal Supply Group categories.
Utilization Code Activity Status Utilization Code The name of the field that describes the use of the asset.
Description Official Name Description Part of a property item's catalog description used as a means of grouping property by function
Manufacturer Manufacturer Manufacturer The organization that created the property, that put it together into its final form
Vendor Vendor (none) The organization that NOAA acquired the property from
Review Campaign Review Campaign Inventory One normal type of review campaign is the wall-to-wall inventory, though there are other types
Bureau Carrier (none) The Bureau whose books are affected by the current financial transaction
Activity Type Activity Type Possession Code The name of the field that describes the status of ownership for the property
* These terms were chosen by NOAA Personal Property Custodians voting in a poll conducted in May 2005 and were implemented in Sunflower when it was upgraded to version 3.8.
